A LITTLE MORE CLARITY
Good questions.
Clear answers.
Who is FTO x HCB for?
FTO x HCB helps non-residents buy and enjoy a home in France with peace of mind. Buyer’s Access provides tax and legal guidance before a purchase, with qualified partners where needed. Membership is exclusively for non-residents who already own a second home in France; it is not currently available to French tax residents. If you are planning to make France your main home, we can direct you to French Connections HCB.
What is the difference between Buyer’s Access and Membership?
Buyer’s Access is for the decisions before you buy: personal tax and legal guidance for a French property acquisition, at €850 including VAT. It includes two 30-minute strategy calls, two hours of asynchronous expert support, a pre-purchase checklist and introductions to trusted partners. Specialist legal work is undertaken by appropriately qualified professionals; additional partner services are quoted separately. Membership is for non-residents who already own a second home in France and want ongoing help with tax questions, correspondence and everyday administration. Both offers give you real people in France to turn to, at different stages of your project.
Can I speak to the team in English?
Yes. The service is designed for international clients who want clear, bilingual support with French tax, property and administrative questions.
Can you help if I want to move to France?
Yes, by directing you to French Connections HCB for relocation support. A move to France involves a different set of questions from owning a second home while living abroad.
How do I choose between Basic and Premium?
Basic costs €99/month or €1,089/year including VAT, with 5 hours of effective work annually, an email response within 72 business hours maximum and one adviser for up to 300 clients. Premium costs €199/month or €2,189/year including VAT, with 8 hours annually, a response within 48 business hours maximum and one adviser for up to 200 clients. Premium also includes mail forwarding from your French second home to our offices, La Poste forwarding fees, scanning, translation and help replying. Calls, research, documents and time spent preparing email replies count towards your annual allowance. Both plans require a 12-month commitment; upfront annual payment includes one month free. Business hours exclude weekends and public holidays. Response times do not guarantee the time an external organisation takes to resolve a matter. Places are limited and the team confirms availability before you subscribe.
Does a membership include every possible tax or legal service?
No. Membership covers remote tax and administrative assistance within 5 hours of effective work per year for Basic or 8 for Premium. Income tax returns, rental accounting, VAT refunds, SIREN registration or closure, and IFI returns are separate FTO services. Visa applications are arranged separately with HCB. Members receive 15% off services from HCB, FTO and FTO TR. Litigation and legal casework require a separate lawyer engagement. Property management, on-site concierge services and physical interventions are not included; we can introduce partners. Document summaries and translations are not certified translations, which can be arranged separately on request. Additional work is agreed in advance.
Does owning a French home give me the right to live in France?
A property purchase and immigration permission are separate matters. The relevant requirements depend on your nationality and the purpose and duration of your stay. Use France-Visas for official guidance and discuss your plans with the relevant specialist.
Can the questionnaire determine my tax residence?
No. It recommends services based on the answers you provide. Tax residence depends on personal circumstances, French rules and any applicable tax treaty. An individual review may be needed.
What should I include in my first enquiry?
Tell us where you currently live, whether you are buying or already own a French property, your main question and your timeline. You do not need to send confidential documents, tax numbers or bank details at this stage.
What happens after I get in touch?
The team reviews your enquiry, identifies the relevant service or specialist and discusses the current scope, availability and fees with you before you commit.
